LIQUID-VAPOR EQUILIBRIA OF THE NEON-HELIUM SYSTEM.

Abstract

The experiment was run using a thermally insulated system of the vapor recirculation type, with facilities for accurately controlling the temperature and pressure and for sampling the equilibrium phases. The samples were analyzed by gas chromatography. The entire liquid-vapor region was covered by six isotherms: 26.95, 29.91, 32.89, 35.90, 38.33, and 41.90 K. The pressure region was covered up to 200 atmospheres. The data are presented in both graphical and tabular form as the mole percent of helium versus total pressure. A plot of the K factors is also presented. The accuracy of the data are probably plus or minus 3% or better, while the temperatures reported are plus or minus 0.05 K. The pressures below 100 atm. are accurate to plus or minus 0.1 atm., and the pressures above 100 atm. are accurate to plus or minus 0.3 atm. (Author)
