AN EXAMINATION OF RECOGNITION AND FREE RECALL AS MEASURES OF ACQUISITION AND LONG-TERM RETENTION.

Abstract

While showing different degrees of sensitivity in the detection of learning, free recall and recognition measures nonetheless yielded acquisition curves of similar shape. Recognition retention functions were found to lie above or below and to have greater or lesser slope than comparable free recall retention curves, depending on conditions. (Author)
