KINETICS AND MECHANISM OF THERMAL DISINTEGRATION OF LOW-MOLECULAR ALKYL AZIDES (KINETICK UND MECHANISMUS DES THERMISCHEN ZERFALLS DER NIEDERMOLEKULAREN ALKYLAZIDE),

Abstract

The thermal disintegration of ethyl-, n-propyl- and i-propyl azides in the gas phase was kinetically analysed by means of a static and dynamic measuring arrangement. In case of all azides above 25 torr it does not depend upon pressure, occurs almost homogeneously and follows the order of the first law of time. The dependence of reaction velocity constants upon temperature can be expressed in the form of equations. Qualitative and half quantitative IR spectral analyses helped to make conclusions about the separate partial steps of the disintegration. (Author)
