STUDY OF MASS FLOWMETERS.

Abstract

Part I contains a survey of mass flowmeters, including volumetric meters with automatic temperature-dependent density compensation, transverse momentum-type flowmeters, and other types of flowmeters which can be adapted to the measurement of mass flow. As a result of this survey it was concluded that volumetric meters with density compensation are inadequate for nonuniform mass flow, transverse momentum-type flowmeters are well-suited for mass flow measurement, and the more exotic device require further development before serious consideration can be given. Part II contains a detailed report of the calibration techniques and data obtained from the experimental investigation of three meters. (Author)
