SSB CRYSTALS, PRECISE AND UNIFORM.

Abstract

This report includes a statement of the results of the early investigations leading to the development of a precise, uniform crystal unit, at frequencies of 3.0 and 5.0 MHz, for use in single sideband voice communications equipment. It includes the problems, and attempted solutions, associated with spurious couplings throughout the temperature spectrums, especially of the 3 MHz units; comparative results of various metal electrodes with reference to Q and stability with time; and methods utilized to achieve the design objectives of the contract.
