ELECTROMAGNETIC SCATTERING FROM MATERIAL-COVERED METALLIC SPHERES.

Abstract

The numerical results from the calculation of the scattering cross sections of a material-covered metallic sphere are presented in graphical form for representative configurations. Monostatic and bistatic cross sections were determined for several thicknesses and constitutive parameters. Both real and complex values of the refractive index were used. The formulas for the cross sections are of standard form and were obtained by applying the appropriate boundary conditions to the Mie series expansions of the incident, internal, and scattered fields. Comparisons are made with scattering from metallic and homogeneous dielectric spheres. (Author)
