THE NOL 4-RING A-C ARC HEATERS.
Abstract
Two 4-electrode 3-phase arc heaters (designated Mark III and IV) are described. These heaters feature smaller internal volumes and electrode diameters than the previous heaters. The air temperatures and efficiencies produced by the Mark III arc heater are higher than those previously obtained. The Mark IV heater, now under construction, is designed to two-minute operation with a hypersonic wind tunnel.
