DEVELOPMENT AND FABRICATION OF MECHANICALLY COMPENSATED CRYSTAL UNITS.

Abstract

Mechanically compensated crystal units designated as 'Preliminary Exploratory Developmental Models', and operating at fundamental frequencies of 3 and 5 mc/s in the series resonance mode, have been delivered to USAEL. The units were tested to the requirements of SCL-6631; it can be firmly stated that these performance goals, with the exception of frequency stability, were either fully met in the preliminary models or are now readily attainable. Additional investigations involving both the compensator and the crystal continue in order that the required improvements in frequency stability with respect to temperature can be provided. (Author)
