3-DIMENSIONAL FLUX LINE TRACE (FLT-3D).

Abstract

Some functional uses of flux line traces and the theory behind their applications are discussed. Some plasma stability conditions which flux lines must satisfy are illustrated by mathematical symbolism. Derivations of vector potential equations are presented and illustrations of the addition of their scalar components to generate complex systems are shown. The theory and equations are adapted to Fortran Program language to provide the reader with a general tool by which to plot flux line traces in three dimensions. A listing of the program code, sample problems, and graphs are presented as a guide to individual requirements. (Author)
