MEMORY SYSTEMS FOR MICROCIRCUITS (MANUFACTURING METHODS).
Abstract
Production vacuum equipment was designed for the fabrication of complex patterns of multilayered electrical conductors. Also, techniques and equipment for bonding integrated circuit chips directly to evaporated aluminum wires were developed. A scratch-pad memory system was designed, comprising integrated circuits, evaporated interconnect conductors, and thin magnetic film storage elements. The integrated circuits required for the system were designed and fabricated; memory systems were built by means of the production techniques developed. Test results on a partially operating system indicate that fully operational systems can be built if minor changes are made in the memory layout. The production techniques have proved to be practical. (Author)
