MULTIPLE ARRAY PROCESSOR. MCF-8 REDESIGN AND EVALUATION.

Abstract

Introducing random noise into the filter design reduces the over-all dynamic range of the resulting filter. There is a frequency, in this case approximately 1.0 cps, below which the introduction of random noise also reduces the effectiveness of the filter; however, above this frequency there is little difference in the signal-to-noise improvement between the filter designed with added random noise and the filter designed from pure noise correlations. Because of the necessity of implementing the resulting filters electronically, the justification for synthesizing the less efficient filter (MCF-9) is apparent.
