EFFECT OF SUPERPOSITION OF STRESS RAISERS ON AXIAL-LOAD FATIGUE STRENGTH

Abstract

A series of tests were to evaluate the effects on fatigue strength caused by the superposition of two stress-raisers. This paper continues the investigation for axial tension of a thin flat plate of finite width. The stress raisers consist of a transverse hole and a groove. The predicted and experimental strength reduction factors are compared and stress-cycle curves are presented.
