ZINC ELECTRODE INVESTIGATION.
Abstract
Cells containing wetproofed silver-palladium electrodes shorted to the positive cell group, or hydrogen fuel cell electrodes maintain low cell pressure with additives in the negative material. A concentration of 0.15% BC-610 in the negative material gives maximum cycles in 30 F. A positive cell pressure of approximately 15 psi is apparently beneficial to cycle life. A maximum of 600+ cycles was obtained at this pressure. Cells were maintained at several constant pressures from -30 in. to +30 psi on this test. Low initial formation charge capacities result in lower cycle life capability of cells. Tests as yet are incomplete. Three plastic materials for cell cases have been tested for hydrogen, oxygen and water vapor transmission. These materials are Celcon, Polypropylene and phenoxy resin. (Author)
