A METHOD FOR EVALUATING SAR REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TWELFTH COAST GUARD DISTRICT.

Abstract

The general background and the authority for Coast Guard search and rescue activities is discussed and a brief introduction to the operation of Coast Guard search and rescue is presented. An introduction to model building and Monte Carlo Analysis follows. Scientific and industrial applications of these techniques and suggestions for Coast Guard usage are given. The paper develops a methodology for the application of these methods to Coast Guard problems. A model of the Twelfth Coast Guard District search and rescue operations and facilities is constructed. The potential use of this model is demonstrated. (Author)
