SERVICEABLE ECONOMIC RETENTION LEVELS

Abstract

This paper develops a perspective on the problems to be considered when determining whether to hold or dispose of serviceable units in long supply, for recoverable types of items. It also develops a formula for determining an economically justifiable 'Serviceable Economic Retention Level' for such items, and a rule-of-thumb approximation of the formula.
