DATA PROCESSING FOR IMPROVED ANTENNA RESOLUTION.

Abstract

This report describes the analytical and experimental studies performed in the second quarter in the design of optimum RIF processors for waveforms with Radar Antenna Pattern characteristics. The parallel-quadrature tapped delay line configuration is described and investigated as an Optimum Resolution enhancement device which is insensitive to the initial random phase of the input signal. At this writing, the Optimum design procedure is completely known for input signals without phase modulation, (except for initial phase) and considerable progress has been made toward the solution of the more general problem, for signals with arbitrary envelope and phase characteristics. A mean-square sense optimum synthesis procedure for Ring Phased Arrays has also been developed and is described herein. (Author)
