THERMAL STRESS ANALYSIS OF PRESSURE VESSELS WITH CYLINDRICAL SKIRT SUPPORTS.

Abstract

A method is described for determination of stresses near the circumferential junction of shell, head, and skirt of a pressure vessel subjected to mechanical and thermal loadings. Considerable latitude is permitted for variation in geometrical, mechanical, and loading characteristics; however, it is presumed that there is complete symmetry about the axis of the vessel. A digital computer program is appended to facilitate solution of the problem. (Author)
