PRESSURE RADIATED BY A POINT-EXCITED ELASTIC PLATE.

Abstract

The acoustic pressure radiated by an infinite elastic plate excited by a time-harmonic point force or moment is obtained. The expression is valid for frequencies above and below the coincidence frequency. Below coincidence the pressure pattern is relatively non-directive and for all practical purposes insensitive to structural damping. Above coincidence the pressure pattern becomes directive, and the peak pressures can be significantly reduced by structural damping. (Author)
