LARGE-AREA ELECTRONIC DISPLAY PANEL.

Abstract

A new high-resolution electron-beam deformation system for thermoplastic film and a novel optical projection system are being developed. Fabrication of the Model C TIRP objective is nearing completion. The use of very low reflectivity films on the lenses and the best manufacturing techniques has delayed the delivery date until mid-January 1966. Several modifications of the GMG Electron Gun, dictated by the deformation system stability study yielded considerable improvement in the uniformity of the 3,000 scan line modulated thermoplastic records. Continued work has produced a greater understanding of the electron-optical requirements at the 3,000 line resolution as well as an effective procedure for alignment and focus. Further development has proven conclusively that anode switching is a practical method for achieving long term stability under single write conditions. During the quarter several modifications were implemented to overcome the existing limitations of the corrective waveform generator. An additional, and less complex, means of generating the dynamic focus waveform is under study.
