ON THE ACCURACY OF SOME DYNAMIC SHELL THEORIES.

Abstract

The error in the frequency and mode shape obtained on the basis of the Flugge bending theory and a Donnell-type dynamic theory is established as a function of the shell parameters for modes having a small number of circumferential waves. The effect on the frequency of the axial and tangential inertia is evaluated. Simple but accurate expressions for the frequency of the first mode are presented and discussed. (Author)
