RADIATION-RESISTANT SSB QUARTZ CRYSTAL UNITS.

Abstract

Information is presented to show that the frequency stability of natural quartz single sideband crystal units is affected significantly in a pulse nuclear environment. The improvement in performance exhibited by similar units made of 'swept' synthetic quartz in this environment is also shown along with the results of experiments made to determine the influence of the electrode material on the radiation resistance of the crystal unit.
