ELECTROMAGNETIC LOG AND FLOWMETER INSTRUMENTATION ANALYSIS.

Abstract

The instrumentation analysis for a feedback nulling type, all-electronic, servo system used as the readout for electromagnetic sensors is described. Included in the analysis is a basic review and discussion of the flow equations and description of sensors including flowmeters and rodmeters for ships' speed measurement. The transfer function for an alternating-current servo system using a Hall-effect modulator is derived together with an analysis of the effects on system performance of quadrature voltage, harmonics, drift, transducer-magnetization angle, and input impedance.
