SOLID-STATE MASER RESEARCH (OPTICAL).
Abstract
Work is reported on the following: (1) Development of a continuous, room temperature YAlG:Nd laser; (2) Development of a repetitively, Q-switched continuously pumped YAlG:Nd laser; (3) Development of a mode-locked YAlG:Nd laser; (4) Spectroscopy of rare-earth ions in YAlG; (5) Use of a continuous laser as a Raman source. Also included are reports of work not supported by this contract but which have relevance to the contract work. The topics in this category are: (1) coherent oscillations from Tm(3+), Ho(3+), Yb(3+) and Er(3+) and YAlG; (2) efficient continuous optical second harmonic generation.
