Installation and Test of the TCE1-FRG Expeditionary Catapult at Lechfeld, Germany (September 1965 through February 1966).

Abstract

The TCE1-FRG expeditionary catapult was designed to be used to launch F-104G aircraft for the Federal Republic of Germany's Short Airfield for Tactical Support. The Catapult was initially tested at NATF(SI) and then shipped to Germany for addition evaluation, under the control of a BUWEPS test team. The German test program was conducted between 17 December 1965 and 28 February 1966. Thirty F-104G aircraft launchings were performed in Germany to demonstrate that catapult performance matched that of the NATF(SI) test program, investigate the adequacy of the launching bulletin, and train the German catapult personnel. All objectives were achieved. Control of the catapult was given to the German personnel on 28 February 1966, after the 30th aircraft launching. (Author)
