TECHNIQUES FOR MEASURING THE QUALITY OF HIGH TEMPERATURE POTASSIUM VAPOR.

Abstract

This report deals with a research and development program to provide techniques for measuring the quality of high temperature potassium vapor. A prototype quality meter was built and tested with steam to establish the feasibility and to determine the limitations of the design. This report presents the results of the steam tests and includes a detailed discussion of the following items: (1) the description and results of the steam test, the techniques developed in measuring steam quality, the influence on the design and the test procedure for the potassium quality meter; (2) the design, construction and anticipated test procedure for the potassium calorimeter; (3) the design of the equipment and test procedure for the sampling technique.
