SPECIAL STUDY OF BERYLLIUM DETECTION TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

Using relatively small amounts of Po-210, an alpha emitter in microsphere form, microgram quantities of beryllium were detected. By chaning to Am-241 in a plated form and using an improved anti-coincidence system with approximately 4 pi source detection, a sensitivity of approximately 20 x 10 to the minus ninth power g of beryllium is possible.
