THE TURBULENCE STRUCTURE OF EQUILIBRIUM BOUNDARY LAYERS,

Abstract

Measurements in boundary layers are discussed together with existing data and some new measurements in boundary layers in zero pressure gradient. It is shown that the small-scale turbulence is nearly universal, and that the large-eddy motion is nearly the same. Comparisons with the free mixing layer suggest that the large eddies consist of mixing jets.
