RESEARCH ON NEW TECHNIQUES IN ABSORPTION AND EMISSION SPECTROSCOPY.

Abstract

Emission Spectra were obtained from the metal demountable hollow cathode. However, the intensity was erratic and several faults in the design were apparent. Spectra were obtained from ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, arsenious oxide, heptane and ethanol. A glass demountable hollow cathode has been built and improved results obtained. The emission spectrum of n.octyl-acid-phosphate was recorded. The results were encouraging. The glass demountable hollow cathode has provisions for an intensification unit to be built inside the body of the source. An intensification unit has been constructed and tested. Initial results were confusing but it appeared that emission spectra were obtained from organic compounds. (Author)
