CARTOGRAPHIC SOURCE MATERIAL STORAGE, RETRIEVAL, AND OUTPUT SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR ACIC/DHS.

Abstract

A plan for the implementation of a fully automated document storage and retrieval subsystem for use in the Map Library, as part of the ACIC/IDHS, is presented. Current techniques for storing and retrieving information on cartographic source material in the Map Library are discussed, and recommendations made for their improvement to reduce costs and analysts' waiting time. System parameters for the 70-mm system are defined. All hardware needed for the proposed system is recommended, and the cost-effectiveness of the proposed system is discussed. (Author)
