HIGH POWER RF WINDOW STUDY.

Abstract

The purpose of this program is to develop a 1.0 megawatt rf window, having 10% bandwidth centered at 8.0 GHz. The first hot test resonant ring has been completed. Problems associated with final fabrication are discussed. Minor electrical problems with test equipment were experienced and a problem with pressure stabilization of the resonant ring was encountered and the problem solved. Final hot testing of the resonant ring gave excellent results, with power gains of 80 obtained and a power level of 1.25 megawatts achieved. Cold test efforts resulted in development of several more window designs. Hot test window assemblies have been completed and are awaiting test. An investigation into the fabrication problems associated with rectangular block windows has been started. (Author)
