STABILITY OF PARALLEL FLOWS WITH FREQUENCY-DEPENDENT VISCOSITY.

Abstract

The stability of the Blasius boundary layer is examined when the viscous stresses lag behind the rate of strain tensor. The effect is destabilizing. The same effect is found for a simplified model of a turbulent boundary layer when the eddy-viscosity is used instead of the molecular viscosity. (Author)
