A STUDY OF THE ELECTRONIC CONFIGURATION AND BEHAVIOR OF THE -NF2 GROUP.

Abstract

The purpose of the research carried out under this contract is to learn more of the chemistry of compounds containing the NF2 group and to look for new ions and compounds in the area of N-F chemistry. During this report period we have concentrated our efforts on making a comparison of the energy of the lowest available sigma orbital with the corresponding polarographic reduction potential, on analysis of the fine structure of vibrational spectra, and on the kinetics of the reactions of anions with difluoramine. We have also continued our efforts in dipole moment measurements, mass spectrometry, and magnetic resonance. Particular emphasis is currently placed on reaction mechanisms.
