ENGINEERING EVALUATION TESTS OF WS133A AND B MINUTEMAN TIE-DOWN PYLONS.

Abstract

Engineering evaluation tests of Minuteman (WS133A and WS133B) tie-down pylons were performed. The purpose of this test was to evaluate the structural performance of selected tie-down pylons in supporting operational design loads as specified in Minuteman (WS133A and WS133B) Weapons Systems Criteria. The tests were performed under varying loads and low temperature conditions. Test results indicate that pylons can be produced to support necessary loads at low temperatures provided that the chemistry of the steel and heat treat processes are controlled according to the specifications during production. Test data and other pertinent test information are presented.
