PROJECT SOPHY SOLID PROPELLANT HAZARDS PROGRAM

Abstract

A final appraisal of the RUBY computer program is presented, which concludes that the program is unsuitable for predicting the detonation properties of typical solid composite propellant. Analysis of the parameter c of the Aerojet detonation model continues. Mean critical diameters of two batches of RDX-adulterated AP-PBAN propellants are compared statistically. The critical- diameter test of a 72-in. dia. sample of unadulterated AP-PBAN propellant resulted in a sustained detonation. The results of the test are presented.
