DETERMINATION OF THE SPECIFIC HEAT OF AL2O3 BY A TRANSIENT TECHNIQUE.

Abstract

The specific hat of aluminum oxide was determined using a transient technique. From the cooling curve of the sample which was enclosed in a thin foil of platinum, the ratio of specific heat of aluminum oxide to the total emittance of platinum was obtained. In a separate experiment, the total emittance of the thin platinum foil was obtained. The specific heat of aluminum oxide thus obtained agrees well with the values in the literature. (Author)
