NOMINAL 36,000-BTU/HR, CONVENTIONAL, STANDARD WEIGHT, SINGLE-SECTION, 208-VOLT, 3-PHASE, 60-CYCLE (MODEL CE36HBC6-208) AIR-CONDITIONING UNIT.

Abstract

Report covers the engineer design, development, and testing of a single-section, base-mounted, self-contained, air-cooled, mono- chlorodifluoromethane refrigerant, electric motor driven, 36,000 Btu/hr, conventional air-conditioning unit for use in military-type vans and shelters. The report concludes, in part: (1) The unit meets established design objectives of standard weight construction in all completed tests. (2) Specific control of humidity and operation on 120-volt, 3-phase electric power are not necessary for this 3-ton conventional air conditioner. (3) The unit meets the 4,000-hour reliability requirements. (4) The unit exceeds the required 36,000-Btu/hr capacity at specified design conditions and functions as required during and after Engineer Design Tests. (5) The existing compressor time delay relay is not completely satisfactory and requires replacement by a temperature compensated relay during the Production Engineering Measures phase.
