A FORTRAN PROGRAM FOR THE COMPUTATION OF THE NORMAL GRAVITY AND GRAVITATIONAL FIELD OF THE EARTH.

Abstract

The equations and theory of the computation of the normal gravity and gravitational field of a rotating ellipsoid are discussed. Particular reference is made to the works of Hirvonen. Two computer programs are given: (1) evaluation of certain special constants from given ellipsoid data; and (2) evaluation of the various components of the gravity field at any elevation given either the geodetic or geocentric coordinates of some point.
