INVESTIGATION OF THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF ROCKET COMBUSTION PRODUCTS.

Abstract

This study is concerned primarily with a new mass spectrometric technique to obtain information on the velocity distribution in the molecular beam effusing from a Knudsen cell. The experiment involves modulation of the molecular beam and gated detection of the ions produced by electron impact of the molecules in the neutral beam. A theoretical basis of this experimental method is discussed. Preliminary work on AlF(v) and LiF(v) using this technique is described. Vapor pressure data on BeO obtained in rhenium cell up to temperatures of 2500 K are presented. (Author)
