DEVELOPMENT OF AN L-BAND SOLID STATE RADIOSONDE TRANSMITTER.

Abstract

Five different types of transistor oscillators were investigated to determine the most promising approch to a compact highly stable L-band radiosonde. Single knob tuning with 1/4 watt output over the frequency range from 1660-1700 MHz was obtained with several circuits but in every case the pulling figures were excessive. A low power (150 mW) rather bulky coaxial oscillator met all of the frequency stability requirements. A more compact version of this oscillator has been designed and is currently being fabricated.
