PHASE SHIFT VARACTOR-DETECTOR DIODES AND TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

The development of special varactors, having carefully controlled junction characteristics to achieve optimum performance in phase shift and standing wave amplifiers, is continued. Good correlation has been found to exist between experimental results and the predicted gain-bandwidth performance of varactors having high figures-of-merit. Increasing the exponent of the capacitance-voltage law, while reducing the numerical value of varactor Q, has provided increased equivalent Q, resulting in superior performance. The dependence of noise figure on varactor parameters is developed and a new test fixture for diodes is described. (Author)
