AN ASSESSMENT OF THE PERFORMANCE CAPABILITIES OF FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM MECHANICS.

Abstract

The study reported herein was conducted to achieve two major objectives. First, measurements were desired of the performance proficiency of Air Defense Command mechanics in maintaining the E-4, 5, and 6 Fire Control Systems. These data were desired in terms of specific tasks and task elements so that deficiencies in performance could be objectively described in detail in order to specify needed improvements in training of mechanics for these systems. Second, data were desired concerning the usefulness of the E-4 Fire Control System Troubleshooting Simulator when used as a performance test. These data will be presented in a separate report. A later study is planned to determine the usefulness of this same device for training in troubleshooting procedures and skills.
