EXPLANATION OF THE FUNCTIONAL BLOCK DIAGRAMS FOR TWO SELF-INSTRUCTIONAL FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM MAINTENANCE TRAINERS.

Abstract

In the interest of providing a scientific basis for improved maintenance training, the Maintenance Laboratory has designed and tested several experimental maintenance trainers. This work has led to the identification of important training functions which can be achieved by especially designed maintenance trainers. Based upon the experience and knowledge gained with these early maintenance trainers, a contract was negotiated with Hughes Aircraft Company calling for the design of two maintenance trainers for the MG-10 Aircraft and Weapon Control System. These trainers were to include even broader segments of the job than some of the earlier trainers, and they were to be more completely self-instructional in nature. The preliminary engineering design for the required trainers were delivered to the Maintenance Laboratory at the conclusion of the contract. These engineering design drawings, although not construction drawings, present enough engineering detail to enable an Air Force agency or its contractors to develop this type of self-instructional maintenance trainer for the MG-10 subsystem or for other similar systems.
