THE TRAINING OF FLIGHT-SIMULATOR MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL: A PROPOSED COURSE THAT EMPHASIZES TROUBLESHOOTING.

Abstract

Solving the problem of inservice maintenance of Air Force electro-mechanical equipments requires determining whether moderate-ability recruits can be trained in a relatively short time to do effective work on the job . This training need not be such as to make the mechanics attractive to industry. The study reported was an investigation of a specific and limited example of this large problem. An outline of a training program for B-47 simulator, personnel of the Strategic Air Command was to be developed. The principles and techniques followed were to be described for general use in the development of similar courses. These techniques are expected to be of value in predicting job and training characterisitics for other electronic maintenance personnel, particularly those engaged in simulator maintenance.
