SINGLE SIDEBAND QUARTZ CRYSTAL UNITS FOR VHF APPLICATIONS (METAL ENCLOSURES).

Abstract

Quality Control tests were conducted on the new HC-6 type coldweld enclosure with satisfactory results. Preparations are being made to submit the finalized drawings for Military and Electronic Industries Association approval as a standard enclosure. Parts are on order for the C size coldweld enclosure. This unit will incroporate materials similar to the new HC-6 type coldweld enclosures; i.e., the base portion of copper clad kovar with compatible glass-to-metal seals and the remaining cover portion of 233 grade nickel. Further thermocompression bonding tests were made without success. A new group of headed wires are on order. These wires are to be manufactured by following a strict cleaning procedure in an attempt to increase the bonding strength between the gold facing and the headed wire. Several groups of resonator units were fabricated and placed on aging.
