2.75 INCH TARGET MARKING WARHEAD.

Abstract

A Target Marking Warhead for the 2.75 Inch folding Fin Aircraft Rocket was designed and fabricated to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of utilizing an elongated thin skinned aluminum warhead with a 223 percent increase white phosphorus payload when compared with an E-13 warhead. Static test firings were conducted to optimize the burster and a complete set of MIL-STD tests were also performed. The warhead passed the MIL-STD test series and it was demonstrated with the optimum burster that this warhead possesses at least twice the target marking ability of previous warheads. This report describes the design, development and testing performed on this item.
