GM DRL'S 2-1/4 Inch Gun Project

Abstract

A high velocity light-gas gun of 2-1/4 in. caliber has been built and put into operation. Four proof rounds have been fired and have demonstrated a highly successful gun operation with a projectile weight of 0.44 lb at a velocity of 22,000 fps as programmed. This report is a brief account covering the description of the gun, the results of the firings, and an evaluation of the gun's performance.
