COMPARISON OF COMPUTED AND EXPERIMENTAL SHOCK SHAPES AND LOCATIONS FOR FREE FLIGHT MODELS,

Abstract

Presented herein are experimental values and calculated solutions of bow shock wave location and shape in the transonic region (Mach 1.0 to 1.25), which have been previously obtained, and also in the low supersonic region (<Mach 4.2). The calculated solutions are obtained by modifications to an inverse blunt body program. The experimental and calculated solutions are compared with both inverse and direct methods derived by other investigators.
