HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEY IN THE BOSTON AREA. HAZEL III - CRUISE I.

Abstract

The object of this cruise was to explore the range of variation of temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen in the water in various parts of the area as well as to discover the general distribution of these quantities. The locations of bathythermograms and surface salinity samples in Massachusetts Bay and Cape Cod Bay are shown. The locations of stations in the Boston area are shown. Salinity and dissolved oxygen were measured at the surface, mid-depth, and bottom at each station in addition to obtaining a bathythermogram and black and white secchi disc measurements for transparency. Although 142 bathythermograms were obtained and 80 stations were occupied at 52 positions. (Author)
