THE EFFECT OF NUCLEAR RADIATION ON CERAMIC-COATED-PARTICLE REACTOR-FUEL MATERIALS,

Abstract

This report presents information on the effects of nuclear radiation on ceramic coated-particle fuel materials. The particles discussed include UC2, UO2, UN, (Th,U)C2, and (Th,U)O2 spheres coated with pyrolytic carbon, Al2O3, or BeO. The report presents data in the form of tables, curves, and photomicrographs for physical damage incurred by the coated particles as a result of their exposure to nuclear radiation. The report also presents data on the postirradiation release of fission products from coated fuel particles. (Author)
