UNIDIRECTIONAL BORON FIBER REINFORCED POLYIMIDE COMPOSITES.

Abstract

The parameters affecting the combination of boron filaments with a polyimide resin system into small, laboratory scale composites were investigated. Several unidirectionally reinforced bars were fabricated and tested in flexure after exposure to an elevated temperature of 600 F for time periods of up to 250 hours. It was concluded that under these conditions boron fibers can be used effectively to reinforce polyimide type resins. (Author)
